Brandon Boyd and Jose Pasillas went to elemtentary school together, in 8th grade Jose went Mike Einziger who spent his time playing guitar. While attending High school (in Calabasas, California) they became friends with Alex Katunich (who had been kicked out of a jazz band). They (Jose, Mike, Alex) started jamming together for the love of music and to cure a case of boredom.First they played cover songs. After coming across Brandon's wonderful voice they formed a band, and wrote their own songs. |
They came across the name Incubus when mike found it in a thesaurus. After reading the definition the rest of the band loved the name (mike didn't really like it) so they took it. They played their first gig at roxy when mike found a hundred dollar bill on the ground by shear luck. They made a few filers, and wrote songs like damnation, miss bliss, backwards, and Love sick (<-the band's first song).Brandon and Jose attended MoorPark community collage, and Mike tried out for alanis morissette's band but, we see he didn't get it.Incubus's first demo was Closet Cultivation.After dj lyfe saw them live he soon asked if they'd be interested in using some of his hip-hop tracks. |

The band hesitated at first but, dj lyfe joined and incubus eventually got signed. Because it's fan base, and that they were a great touring live band.Dj Lyfe was kicked out and replaced by Dj Chris Kilmore. Due to probelms within the band.
